This is a real shorty to finish off the preferences series and it covers the plugins and type preferences. So thats this short series finished just in time for Photoshop CS5 to come out. Go Figure! I will make changes for CS5 as and when I get my paws on a copy…

I was reading an article the other day and the 2nd point was about “Location Scouting”. Which in my view photographers don’t do enough of especially if they rely on those locations because they do not have a studio. So I am going to give you some invaluable tips for a good location session which can be applied whether you shoot for fun or shoot for a living.

If you follow my screencasts regularly, then you will know I am a big fan of adding a little vignetting (darkening of the corners) to my images. Heck! I even created a whole series of actions called the “Vignette Maker” just for Photoshop. But what if you want to create a vignette non-destructively in Lightroom or ACR? Yes, I know we can all do that with the post-crop vignette. No brainer! Ah, but what if you want to off-set the vignette? Watch the screencast after the jump for the work around.

In this penultimate screencast of the series, I show you how to setup the guides, grids and slice preferences. I have been in here a lot of late whilst creating Storybook Album Designer v6. But you will probably only visit this preference once in a blue moon.

Have you ever shot a RAW image, “chimped” the LCD on the back of the camera and thought “Nice One” only to be disappointed later when you download the image onto your computer? Well, let me show you how to create a better RAW file straight from the camera and thats before you even go near an adjustment slider. This screencast may just change your life? Ok I exaggerate! But it will make your RAW images look more like the preview on the back of your camera. Happy Days!

We are on the home straight of the preferences series and in this screencast I show you how to make the most out of the units and rulers. When it comes to creating actions, this is one preference I dip in and out of a lot and if you are into web graphics you will visit this preference pretty regularly. So let me show you how to set things up and how to get here quickly.

This is probably one of the least adjusted preferences but one that I did not want to skip. So if you need to know how to re-color your transparency grid or change your gamut warning, then this is the screencast for you.

The Photoshop Cursors are getting more and more sophisticated with each version released. You are going to want to make the most of the cursor features and this screencast shows you how to do it.
