Poll Results & New Poll: Your Photo Manager of Choice

It’s time to update our poll and reveal to you the results of last month!

We had a ton of votes in and it was a closely fought battle, thanks to everyone for participating.

The Results

results

As you might have guessed with the advent of Storybook Album Designer v6, it was in fact the poll winner of last month. However! It was as I said a very closely fought battle between the two and many people offered valuable insight as to why Lightroom masterclass would be more valuable to them.

So close in fact was the vote, that we will be revisiting the lightroom training masterclass later in the year for those who liked the sound of it.

What is your photo manager of choice

For the new poll we want to know what is your favourite photo management software. Are you a fan of adobe’s bridge and lightroom? Or do you prefer to stray from the adobe family and use a 3rd party app to manage your photographs?

Make your vote from the sidebar, and as ever we love to hear your reasons and insights so if you have something to add, hit the comments thread and let us know! >

    Hi Stuart,
I voted for Bridge as preferred photo managing software, although I am starting to use Lightroom now, but I could only vote for one app.
    Cheers,
    Matt

I have used picasa mostly in the past, mainly to organise and group pictures, plus easy to e-mail pics and upload to my fav online printer.
However I am using lightroom now more for developing and post processing of Raw images. Still trying to work out the workflow that suits me and that’s why the more I understand and learn about lightroom the better it will be

  3. I think this is going to be an interesting poll… :) as I expected more people to be on Lightroom.

  4. Rob Brook says:

I’ve pretty much only ever used Lightroom but that’s because I’m so new photography in general.

I’m surprised at the last poll results though I didn’t think Lightroom would have such a high result. It was quite a close run contest.

Perhaps Stu you need a poll to see which areas people are having difficulty with regards Lightroom, I know personally work flow itself is the hard part and how to work efficiently & professionally.

  5. Rob,

I have already started on a real world workflow series on Lightroom There are around 20 videos done. But I am still fine tuning it. Either Lightroom Essential Training or Signature will be the next DVD. But we need to know there is enough of an audience for it. I am also considering releasing it FREE on the blog which means it would be on download in the LPS+ area…But that depends on whether we make the LPS+ a live feature. Thats still being fine tuned as well.

    Cheers

    Stu

  6. Sue Smith says:

    Hi Stu,

I voted for Bridge as I find it a lot easier to work with. I have tried Lightroom but I always get in a mess with it. It’s the filing side of things I had difficulty with and I could never transfer my images into PS after adjustments. They always got ‘lost’ so to speak.
So I have stuck with Bridge even though I still don’t know all it’s secrets but what I do know works for me.

    Regards, Sue

  7. David Clift says:

    Hi Stu,

I switched to Lightroom last year from Bridge, and I have to say I don’t really use bridge that much any more. It took a while to get going in Lightroom, but a couple off books helped out, and this weeks screen cast on ACR camera profiles was excellent, certainly I had not realised the effect that little box had, Just Excellent.

Could you please explain your comment to Rob: “But that depends on whether we make the LPS+ a live feature”? I have only just had a quick look at LPS+, but it answers all the problems I had viewing the Screen Casts at home so I hope this doesn’t mean it about to disappear.

    All the best
    David…

  8. Catherine says:

I use Bridge because that’s what I have. If there’s something better for accessing all my files quickly I’d be interesting in hearing all about it.

  9. @ Sue, I should probably do more on Bridge as well as Lightroom.

@ David, we are happy to leave it as it is just now whilst we build up content. As for the comment. It may change from what it is just now into something even better. As new technologies come along we need to look at them and the LPS+ maybe just a feature of the site that people can access by invitation only for at least the next wee while. The back end payment gateway is not 100% to our liking and there is something better that we are currently researching. Either way, it wont affect your membership or ability to download the free content as the membership is embedded into our core wordpress cms and not the gateway.

@Catherine, Bridge is cool for you.
