Updated – The Secret of RAW Sharpening

In this updated screencast, I show you the power-user secrets of sharpening in Adobe Camera RAW. If you have already watched this screencast then give it another go, because I somehow managed to lose 3 minutes of video between recording, editing and uploading it. So in this new version, I show you in full ;) how to make the most of sharpening your RAW images with a little help from Spike the Pike!

Great Stu, can’t wait for the next one!

  2. Stuart Little Says:

@Clifford – This screencast is actually faulty and will be replaced within the hour. A new version will be live by 10am GMT 17th October. Thanks to Catherine for spotting that it ended abruptly. Some where between recording and uploading I had managed to lose 3 minutes of video. Ouch! So the full version is a little better SORRY! :)

  5. Alan Turnbull Says:

    Hi Stu,

I’m just back online after moving house a few weeks back (bloody BT!) and I’m really pleased I came straight back to your site. I always feel my RAW files need to be a little sharper but didn’t really know what I was doing until now. Previously, I’d just run the unsharp mask over them but this Camera RAW method is much more precise – it’s great to finally understand what the various sliders do!

    Thanks again,

    Al.

  6. Danny Says:

Great tutorial!!! My photos have never looked sharper at 100%. Thanks so much for sharing.
    Danny

  7. Catherine Says:

More very useful information, and as always, explained in fine detail. Thanks!

  8. Mark Says:

Once again great tutorial Stu. When will I ever stop learning.
    Mark

  9. Rob Brook Says:

Never really played in camera raw as I’m using Lightroom, I wonder if the ALT key works in there too?

  10. Stuart Little Says:

@Rob – Yep, it does exactly the same thing in Lightroom. Its the same engine that powers both on the whole. Remember to be zoomed in at 1:1 to do it.

@Mark – Thanks for the feedback Mark. It means a lot to us when people take the time to leave a comment. Lets us know we are on the right track. As for when we will you stop learning? Just after I stop teaching

  11. Stuart Little Says:

@Catherine – Thank you Catherine for your support and comments.

@Danny – Hi Danny, great to hear from someone who has not left a comment before… Glad you are enjoying the tutorials and may your images be sharper from this day on.
